- Lay the band right side up on your work surface.

- Place the pillowcase body right side down on top, matching the top raw edge. Pin together along the top edge.
- Roll up the pillowcase body fairly tightly so that it sits completely on the band fabric.
- Lift the bottom raw edge of the band and lay it along the top pinned edge. Re-pin this edge through all 3 layers of fabric. Be careful not to pin through the roll of fabric.
- Sew along the pinned edge, taking care not to catch the roll of fabric in the stitches.

- Pull the pillowcase body out through one end of the band. Press.
- Trim along the sides to even the edges.
- Make French seams to finish the pillowcase . With wrong sides together, fold the pillowcase in half, matching the unfinished edges at the side and bottom. Pin. Sew along the side and bottom edges using a ¼” seam allowance. Trim the seam allowance to 1/8”.

- Turn the pillowcase inside out and press along the seam. Stitch the seams again with a ¼” seam allowance. This will fully enclose the first seam allowance.
Add a contrasting trim along the seam where the band meets the pillowcase body …
Cut a strip of a contrasting fabric 1 ¼” wide. Press the strip in half lengthwise. Insert it between the pillowcase body and the band in step 2. You can use any soft, washable lace or trim in the same way.
Now that you know how easy it is to make a pillowcase …
there’s no stopping at one!
